Feedback from a niece (physician’s assistant) in the health field: not only is she not seeing enough on-shift personnel to cover for absences and overtime, there are not enough people to “backstop” her decisions. So if she makes a goof and doesn’t catch it, it won’t get caught.
Hospital management says “the people to hire aren’t applying!” Staff says “with these wages, no wonder!” And yes, it’s a for-profit hospital.
