Ever see the old Murphy Brown TV series? Remember Eldin, the artistic painter who never got anything done on time? <sigh> Yeah, the original time estimate was “3–4 weeks” for clearing the back of trees and brush, building the waterfall and terrace, and replanting/mulching. That was back in May. Now, yes, we have had more rain than is usual for south central PA (normally lawns turn brown in August, but this year we’ve had puddles in back as often as not), so that makes it hard to get machinery up a muddy clay slope, but also our landscaper is an artist who starts with a concept and fills in the details as he goes. (We were not aware of this when we started. He had good reviews and wonderful photos of past things he’d done and a lovely sketch that has a slightly vague similarity to the current state of affairs.) This will make an interesting story when it’s all done. [crossing fingers that it *WILL* all be done before the snow falls] Kind of Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream Backyard.
