Even for live-together couples, having some individual space for each person is vital. So I have my office — a room of chaos and disorder (to the casual eye) and inviolable to any casual visitor (unless she needs to get something off the laser printer). Deb has her end of the couch in the family room, her corner of the porch, and her half of the bed (extending to the area next to the bed on the floor, an area of chaos and disorder to anyone who just needs to raise the shade on that window). And her closet. And the two guest rooms, I guess. Anyway, point is, we have our spaces.
DEB: What about my work area in the basement?
Oh, and half the basement is hers, and the other half is ours. 😊
