FYI, this wouldn’t help your unique situation re: education and work history, but I’ve had numerous HR people tell me that it was not only okay but actually strongly recommended to cut stuff off the resume so as not to be too old or over qualified.
Ditto. Also: always rewrite the résumé to fit the job listing, even if it’s just “change happy to glad” tweaks to match the wording. Apparently most job applications go through software that matches keywords/tricky phrases, then they get to be seen by human types. (This advice from pro HR friends; my previous company, where I hired people, wasn’t large enough for HR to have that software back in the 00s, and my current company is too small to have HR.)
