Deb lived with her mother for two years as Mom went through metastatic uterine cancer. Deb was also looking at local retirement communities at the time, and found one (St Anne's) that was affordable, multi-tiered, and (major feature) does NOT throw people out when their money runs out. Mom refused to move, and we were able to accomodate her until about a week from the end (with me sleeping in a double bed with Deb two or three nights a week when I visited — totally worth it, IMHO) when Mom moved into a hospice facility, but we both liked St Anne's and have a reservation with them.

We have no kids. Our nieces and nephews have other problems — okay, they have LIVES, same thing these days. 😉 So we plan to move ourselves into an apartment at St Anne's before 2030. I will need memory care at some point, although there are days I wish I could just get an nice, aggressive cancer that would finish me off when my mind goes. Our nice financial advisor folks think we should be okay. Fingers crossed!
