Deb can relate to this. She retired earlier than planned because her job got to be more stressful than she could stand; it didn’t help when her boss handled her replacement with, “We post the job, we interview a few people, maybe you have a week or so to turn things over; no big deal.”
Both her immediate successors quit. With no notice — one showed up and left, one called in her resignation. The administration formed a search committee to rewrite the job description, screen candidates, and do formal interviews.
