There are TV shows Deb and I like to watch together, via Netflix or iTunes on our Apple TV. We try not to binge watch, and since “binge” means three or more episodes in a row we (almost) always quit at 2.95.
One of the main points of watching with your best friend is sharing comments about what is going on and guessing the next line. (No, we are not Those People in a movie theater. Usually.) So we’re watching an episode* where the main character (Mike) is talking to an ex-girlfriend (Claire) about the current crisis, his job, and his fiancée (Rachel), and Claire says if he really does love Rachel, he should put a stop to it, right now.
ME: “He should stop being a lawyer?”
MIKE: “So, you think I should stop being a lawyer?”
DEB: “No, he should stop it with Rachel.”
ME: “What? That makes no sense!”
CLAIRE: “I’m saying if you really love her, you won’t marry her.”
I look at my wife, who has this Duh, Tolja look on her face.
DEB: “It’s a girl thing, honey. Mars and Venus. You wouldn’t understand.”
