We had a short discussion this morning, when I’d seen the title of your piece but not the subtitle or body, so that was all I read to her. Her initial reaction was sadness, because she would take a bullet for her student workers; but now that she’s read the article, it’s the difference between taking a bullet for “your kids” (whom you know and work with) and “the kids” (“hi, yeah, we now expect you to do something we only asked of Secret Service agents before, oh, and it’s an unpaid extra assignment and you can buy ammo out of your own salary like you buy school supplies, thanks, don’t make a fuss because if you do we know it’s all a plot by your union for more pay you ungrateful jerk”).
