Clay, Deb says she totally in agreement with what you said. In principle. But she’s not used to going into Christmas waiting for something to go wrong because somebody decided to get pissed off at someone else. Again. She’s just glad Christmas (or “Christmas,” in this case) is over (except for time with our niece and nephew, who are the coolest kids to hang out with ever).
Me, I got a father who never said hello to me the whole time I was there, and who gave my wife a goodbye hug and then pulled in his arms when he saw me behind her. Whose only conversation with me was kvetching about how his doctor was screwing him over by saying he needed retesting before he could drive again (actually, it was more of a monologue). Sad part? Best visit in years. (REALLY sad part? There are people reading this who would trade places in a snap.)
