Chat with Deb—Spring Catalogs

Springish. Spring-like. Possessing a spring quality, maybe.

My wife Deb and I like to leaf through catalogs while we eat breakfast in our backyard four-season porch. Sometimes, like now, when the flowers are coming up and the birds are active and every morning brings a new change, we just enjoy our breakfast and appreciate being in nature, with our windows cracked open to listen to the water from our (artificial) stream. <sigh>

Our backyard garden, mid-March, after I put the pumps back in that power the stream. Still some frost in the forecast, so no plants going in, but no chance of ice buildup that can mess up the pumps. (photo by author)

And some mornings it’s just cold and dark and windy and the windows are staying shut. Hey, look, ads for t-shirts!

ME: “In THIS house, we narrate the dog’s thoughts!” Weird, that implies there are some houses that don’t?

DEB: Only ones without dogs. “I know I’m not immortal, but I keep buying books as though I am.” Ha, but they don’t count if they’re on Kindle, right, honey?… Jackster?

ME: Love you, Debster! Mean it! Oh, here you go: “Sometimes I think I read too much. Then I laugh and turn the page.” Real or virtual, as applicable.

DEB: Here’s a pillow: “Drink tea. Read books. Be happy.” Pity we aren’t buying new stuff as we downsize!

ME: One of the sofa pillows is kinda tired and could use replacing, doncha think? No? Yes…
