Chat with Deb—Grab the Money and Run
Oodles of cash and a suitcase to carry it!
We’re in the parking lot, discussing the job we’re about to pull.
ME: So! We go in, head for the first open cage we see. I’ll keep an eye out for guards or supervisors. You shove the paper over across the counter, let ’em know how much cash we want. Then when—
DEB: And my ID. They’ll need to see an ID. They won’t just hand over the money to anybody, right? That’s what they told us when we ordered it.
ME: Um, sure. I guess. Kind of spoils the narrative, though.
We’re at the local AAA¹ office. Besides helping plan trips and book travel, they also handle assorted travel services, such as obtaining foreign currency. Since we have booked local excursions on our cruise, Deb thought that having cash in small denominations for tips and minor purchases would be handy. So we ordered $120CDN and 12500kr (Icelandic króna) — about $200USD, total.
Oh, we’re going on another cruise. Did I not mention that before?
Yes, in less than a month we will be boarding the MS Zaandam of the Holland America Line, heading for New England, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, and returning along a similar route back to Boston.
