Carol, I am not a parent, but I have seen everything you described, in family, friends, and colleagues. Almost every one of your main points evoked a “oooh, that reminds of…” memory. I wish you had written this a couple years ago, before some of our nieces became pregnant; might not have made a difference, but maybe they’d have felt a little better knowing that yeah, seriously, motherhood, it really sucks sometimes.
