B&W photos throw away a lot of the information in a photograph. Sometimes a lot of it. I dislike discarding data for no reason so my spirit rebels at the concept of B&W for monochrome’s sake.

However.

Poetry is writing that throws away a lot of the data of a written paragraph. The trick is to structure what you have in the right way, to add new meaning. So I suppose someone could make the case that a B&W photo is just the poetic form of a picture.

Certainly Dennett’s photos are visually poetic!
