At Jim Finn’s suggestion, my wife and I wear little LGBTQIA+ flag pins when we’re out and about. Just a way to let folks know they’re safe with us. We’ve gotten any number of quiet thank-yous and “I like your pin!” from all sorts of people, and a surprising number from crew members of the cruise ship we were on. We have yet to get a negative comment (the closest we’ve come is “Why do you wear South African flags?”, which gave us a chance to explain) or even a disapproving look (although I am not good at picking up on those anyway).
