Alas, Wade, as I was reading the poem I became more and more distracted. It seemed so familiar! Which made no sense. Wait, not the words — the rhythms! Something… something…

OMG! It fits the tune, “If You’re Happy and You Know It, Clap Your Hands”! 😳

The song is a,a,b,a while the poem is a,a,b,c, but otherwise it works. Singing in a cheerful happy voice (with claps at the end of lines 1, 2, & 4) helps make the point. (Well, somebody’s point, anyway.)

Sorry, agnostic church-goer here. This is why I’m not allowed to speak to kids Sunday school classes without proper adult supervision. 😐 “So, how many of you kids know that Jesus was a bastard and Mary an unwed mother?”
