Absent extreme weather (downpour/driving snow/awful heat) we park "a ways away" from our destination so we can walk. In shade during the summer, although there are enough shady people like Jan Flynn (luv ya, Jan!) that this isn't always easy. Usually this also makes our car easier to find, although the odds of someone parking an F150 truck or a giant SUV between the direction from which we're coming and our poor little Honda Fit defy statistical analysis.
