A trained and experienced marksman can hit a target at 140m with an AR-15. If the shooter was a former Marine, I could accept the story. However, there’s nothing so far that indicates that Crooks even had experience with firearms before the shooting.

In the video, Trump comes across as startled that his ear suddenly hurt, which seems logical. But then it appears he remembers he has lines to say as the SS tries to get him away.

My bet is that Crooks will be a complete mystery as to motives. Nothing will be found on his social media or phone. Meanwhile conspiracy theories from all sides will abound, with no evidence.

But the photo of the bloodied, defiant Trump, framed against the American flag, will be everywhere until Election Day.
