A few years ago (but not THAT many, as I think about it) a family friend was upset because she had the kids in the Sunday school class she taught do Noah’s Ark themed artwork. Including lots of rainbows, because rainbows are fun and use lots of different crayons. But then the parents of one kid went ballistic because she’d had the kids doing “gay drawings”! Which shocked the friend, first because she didn’t know rainbows were a symbol of LGBTQ+ (yes, a tad sheltered, it’s a very rural area down there), second because rainbows? From the Bible? What?
Then later there was another kerfuffle because some symbol (I don’t remember what it was, because there was ZERO relationship to anything, in my mind) was actually part of BLM (say what?), which is actually part of Antifa (huh?!), which everyone knows is domestic terrorism run by foreign powers (okay, see, it can be “domestic” or “foreign-run” but not usually both) and parents were all upset again.
And it had to be true, because it wasn’t just on the Internet, “it was on TV”!
Mein Gott in Himmel, as their Amish neighbors would say…
